WYNWOOD

Wynwood Storefront for Goldman Properties | Miami

Wynwood gained its popularity due to the freedom provided to Graffiti artists by the late Tony Goldman and other visionary developers. Graffiti as a medium is inherently flat, however most wall-art tends to be representational and as such it seeks to move into three-dimensions; we especially like the tags from the 80s. This storefront faces South and receives sunlight all day. The intent was to capture the eastern, southern, and western light and to wash it down the facade. Curves make beautiful shadows. Stucco - the prevalent texture of Miami, is applied by hand and so it alludes to actual Graffiti painting. The trowel has left it’s mark on the wall in the same way a paint-brush is registered on canvas. We are making a three-dimensional Graffiti.
